Coppermine
------

Good judgment failed me outright,
    and reflection only shows
That the path of least resistance
    was right beneath my toes
But I was too young to know,
I was too young to envision a life

( Rest my head, my threshold’s come
        Time to ask forgiveness, done
The path winds out across the grounds
The moon is high, my mind is sound )

Took a long walk, made it down to the basin
Way down where the sky caved in (caved right in)
I thought it looked nice on paper
Memory made, now etched in pavement (in pavement)

I was too young to know
You caught me in a glimpse outside of my house
You promised you wouldn’t tell the neighbors
about how I looked so old
But I was too young to know
You caught me in a glimpse right through my window
You promised you wouldn’t tell
You promised not to say a thing
about how I looked so old and worn out

    ( Rest my head on…
        My threshold’s come
        Time to ask forgiveness )

I thought it looked nice on paper
If I could go back, I’d stay my hand and say:
“ I promise you will lose this fight
I promise you never will be whole again ”

Rest my head, my threshold’s come
Time to ask forgiveness, done
The path winds out across the grounds
The moon is high, my mind is sound
My hand lifts up, brings judgment down
A burn mark left depressed in brow
